A Memorial service for Clifford Lawrence Barlow, 84, of Mineola, will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 800 N. Johnson Street in Mineola. The Rev. Thomas A. Pantle will officiate. A visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall following interment in the St. Dunstan's Columbarium Courtyard.Mr. Barlow, a native of Mineola, died July 2, 2017, in Tyler. He was the elder son of the late Louise Lawrence Barlow and Clifford Lee Barlow.He was a graduate of Mineola High School and was a member of the 1949 Mineola Yellowjacket championship football team.He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BS degree in Geology in 1955. He attended graduate school at the University of Tulsa. While a student at Southern Methodist University, he was a member of the varsity golf team. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.Mr. Barlow's first employment was working as a geologist for Oklahoma Natural gas from 1958-1964. In 1964, he became the Exploration Manager for Marion Corporation and left there as Vice-President of Exploration in 1970. At that time, he founded Mini-Tex Oil Corporation and continued to lead the corporation until his death.Mr. Barlow was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force. He was a fighter pilot, flying F86s, until his release in 1958.He was a lifetime member of the Southern Methodist Alumni Association and contributing member to Southern Methodist University's athletic programs.He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Tulsa Geological Society, Kansas Geological Society and the Tulsa and Oklahoma City Associations of Petroleum Landmen.He was a member of Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
